Various Positions with the ORCA BUS
The ORCA bus is On the Road with Children’s Activities again this September. This year they will run 5 days a week, in the morning and in the afternoon, from Saltery Bay to Lund and on Texada Island, too. The ORCA Bus needs Play and Reading Assistants, Bus Drivers and Backstage Helpers.

Program leaders and helpers are needed to interact with children and parents on the bus and assist in the everyday operations of the ORCA BUS.

Bus Drivers with airbrake endorsement are needed to transport the bus from place to place. Without bus drivers the ORCA BUS is not possible!

ORCA Bus Backstage helpers are desperately needed to clean toys and equipment and do various tasks in order to make the bus a sanitary and safe place for children and parents.
A Vulnerable Sector’s Criminal Record Check is required for all volunteers and will be paid for by Success By Six. ORCA Bus staff provides applicable training. This is a great United Way initiative supported by many groups in the community including the Provincial Government, First Credit Union and The United Way.

Special Olympics, an organization that provides sports for people with mental disabilities are in need of volunteer scorekeepers for bowling on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8pm and for the youth bowling program on Tuesday afternoons from 4 to 5 pm.
They also need an assistant swim coach. Swimming is held Tuesdays from 6 to 7pm and Fridays from 4 to 5pm. The swim program includes both youth and adults.
Special Olympics is looking for a Floor Hockey Coach and an Assistant Softball Coach. Both teams practice on Friday nights from 6:30 to 8:00pm. The athletes in both of these programs are adults.
All volunteers with Special Olympics have the opportunity to complete the coaching certification program.
